Memorial Day 5-29
Great morning. I was invited to a family gathering yesterday. A backyard bbq but was cautioned that some members may be drinking alcohol, in case that was offensive to me. I confessed I still enjoy a cold beer on occasion and accepted. It was in the evening so I had time to think about it and my preconceived notions went negative. I imagined rowdy drunks, slurring and swearing. General godlessness could be abounding all around me. But after all, I had just attended a Christian music event that was held inside Outlaw Jack’s bar in Crosby, so I decided to go. Gladly, there was no such scene. Instead, it was a devoted Christian family who celebrated each other and most of the young adults were busy caring for their little children, one a newborn. I was blessed to hear the matriarch mother correct her daughter for speaking negatively over her child. I do not know what was spoken but she explained that when you declare negative things such as he/she is like that hellraising, rebel relative or maybe just reinforcing he/she is being dumb, those declarations over a child can become true. I was talking to the grandmother at the time and we both smiled in approval that truth was being spoken to the young parents. That established a true family memorial this day. Enough rambling for today, Remember: The power of life and death is in the tongue. Choose to speak life!
