I "see" you

Good morning. I reconnected with an old friend last night who has been a faithful servant of God for as long as I have known her. In that time she has run ministries for abused woman, for drug addiction recovery, for coffee shop prayer groups and is now focused on street evangelism. I joined her and 5 others who love people. We went to pray with residents of a cheap local motel where most stay long but pay by the week. I feel I was blessed as much as anyone by the experience. One woman in particular stood out to me when she kept repeating, "Ya'll are not in my movie and I am not in your movie". Since at one point she said she was crazy and schizophrenic, I thought it was just the rantings of a confused individual. Much time was spent by a few of us trying to reach her for the Lord but we departed settling on the hope that at least a seed was planted in her. I am told in Africa there is a saying of "I see you". Meaning that they understand your true feelings or your true self. After thought, I think the movie that woman sees herself living in is a horror flick like Scream. A movie where the anxiety and sufferings continue to build upon each other. Whereas the movie she saw us living in is like Valley Girls or one where the actors lead privileged lives and only have petty problems. I believe I truly "see her" now. Remember to try to "see" others today.Â
