Staff Only     7-25

Here we go, again. I like to start the day watching Reflections on Daystar TV, where bible verses are displayed against beautiful scenery, with my television muted. Mark 6:31 drew me in; it is Jesus telling the twelve apostles to rest, alone, after their first preaching tour without Him by their side. I backed up to learn more about the tour and found that in Mark 6:8, Jesus commanded them to leave taking no suitcase, no food and no money. They were to only carry a staff. I guessed, the staff was to beat off any wild animals or marauders along the way. But no, in the bible that would be called a rod. The staff was used to rescue distressed sheep in peril. When faced with danger, whether real or imaginary, sheep freeze and cry out for help. They do not realize that by crying out, they are signaling the predators that they are vulnerable and ripe for the picking, along with their location. I need to remember that by crying out or complaining, I am signaling the predators, also.
